COOKING
I know I cannot cook that well
But you should know I’m trying.
When I’m hot and sweaty, saying I’m fine
More often than not, I’m lying.
I attempt a cake but it does not rise,
My cookies all burn black.
I read the recipe right, I swear
Maybe I should change tack.
I’ve watched you bake a thousand times
I’ve picked up all your tricks.
Your patience knows no bounds my love,
Even when nothing ever sticks.
You say I could burn water,
Well that’s not exactly true.
The best use for the wet stuff
Is when batter sticks like glue.
I’ll never toss a pancake
It burns before I do!
I’ll stick to what I’m good at
And leave that part to you.
I think it best I stay outside
And watch you through the door
I’m very good at the eating part
And coming back for more!
So when you ask me for gourmet
Or Michellin starred cuisine,
Expect something a bit humbler –
Like baked beans or ice-cream.
